Head size

Compared to the 100-inch models the 98-inch models have a thinner beam which offers players more control, precision, and feel when hitting the ball.

The smaller 98-inch models are intended for intermediate to advanced players who prefer control over power.

Weight

Ezone 98 models are slightly heavier than Ezone 100 models. The standard Ezone 98 model weighs 305 grams which is 5 grams more than the standard 300-gram Ezone 100 standard model. With the help of extra weight Ezone 98 models are able to offer players more control and feel for their shots.

EZONE 98 / OSAKA EZONE 98

In addition to a smaller head size and heavier weight, the Ezone 98 has an open 16×19 string pattern which allows for good string movement providing players with good spin and power-producing capabilities.

Ezone 98 is best suited for intermediate to advanced players who are looking for a more control-focused Ezone model with improved ball feedback.

In addition to the heavier weight, the Ezone 98 Tour has an open 16×19 string pattern which offers players good string movement and therefore excellent spin and power production.

It is good to keep in mind that due to its heavier weight of 315 grams, the Ezone 98 Tour is more challenging to swing and thus it is recommended for more advanced players.

The Ezone 98 Tour is best suited for advanced players who are looking for the most control-focused model in the Ezone 98 series.

EZONE 105

Ezone 105 is the larger head-sized version of the standard 100 head-size model. Its head size is 105 square inches and it weighs 275 grams compared to the Ezone 100 standard model’s 300 grams. Thanks to its larger head size Ezone has a greater sweet spot which offers players more forgiveness and stability when hitting the ball. The lighter weight of 275 grams also improves the racket’s maneuverability making it easier to handle for inexperienced players.

In addition to forgiveness and stability, the slightly larger 105 square-inch head size allows players to produce power more effortlessly.

Due to the larger head size and lighter weight, Ezone 105 doesn’t offer as good control and precision as the standard 100-head size model. Therefore it is recommended for beginner to intermediate players.

Ezone 105 is best suited for beginner to intermediate players who are looking for a lighter, easier, and more forgiving Ezone model with a slightly larger head size. Even though Ezone 105 is a light racket it is not completely suitable for young players since the large head size can be harder to maneuver for players with shorter height.

The extra large head size and the light weight make the Ezone 110 an arm-friendly racket that offers players good comfort and easy power production.

In addition to the large head size and lighter weight, the Ezone 110 has a 0.25 inch (0,64cm) longer handle than the standard Ezone 100 model. This helps players to reach harder shots and is especially useful in doubles play.

Ezone 110 is best suited for beginner to advanced senior players who are looking for an arm-friendly racket with an extra large head size and effortless power production.

Weight

Vcore 98 square inch models are slightly heavier than Vcore 100 square inch models. However, the smaller head size produces less power than the 100-inch model so the 98-inch models are more suitable for intermediate to advanced players who can generate their own power.

The Yonex Vcore 98 is best suited for intermediate to advanced players who are looking for a competitive, spin-producing racket with good control.

Vcore 100 square inch head size models are a little bit easier and more power-producing Vcore models. In addition to the larger head size, they have a thicker beam which helps to provide players with more stability, forgiveness, and power.

Weight

The standard Vcore 100 model weighs 300 grams which is 5 grams less than the standard Vcore 98 model. With the reduced weight Vcore 100 models are more maneuverable and easier to play with than Vcore 98 models.

VCORE 100

Vcore 100 is the Vcore’s larger head-sized model. It has a 100 square inch head size compared to the standard model’s 98 square inch head size. Vcore 100 also weighs 300 grams which is 5 grams less than the 98-inch model. It has the same open 16×19 string pattern as the Vcore 98-inch model which provides a good amount of spin and power.

In addition, Vcore 100 has a thicker beam which improves the racket’s stability, forgiveness, and power production.

Vcore 100 is best suited for intermediate to advanced players who are looking for a more power-producing and forgiving Vcore model that can be used in competitive play.

VCORE 95

Vcore 95 is the most competitive control-focused Vcore model. It has an extra small 95 square inch head size and a heavier weight of 310 grams. In addition, it has a slightly less open 16×20 string pattern which offers players excellent control and precision.

The smaller head size and heavier weight together with the 16×20 string pattern make the Vcore 95 model the most control-focused Vcore model.

It is good to remember that 95 square inch head size is remarkably smaller than the average 100 square inch head size and it has a smaller and more demanding sweet spot. For that reason, the Vcore 95 is mostly recommended for advanced competitive players.

Vcore 95 is best suited for advanced competitive players who are looking for the most control-focused Vcore model.

PERCEPT 🟢

Percept is the Yonex’s most control-focused series. It is endorsed by top tennis professionals such as Stan Wawrinka, Hubert Hurkacz, and, Frances Tiafoe.

These racket models are designed for more experienced intermediate to advanced players who are looking for a Yonex model with excellent control and good spin production.

Percept’s models come with more closed string patterns such as 18×20 and 18×19 which are favorable for control-oriented players who can produce their own power.

PERCEPT 97 Models

Head size

97 square inches is the Percept series’ standard head size. Percept’s smaller 97-inch head sizes are more control-focused and produce less power than larger head-size models.

Due to the smaller head size, they have a smaller sweet spot but improved control, precision, and ball feedback.

The smaller 97-inch models are intended for advanced players who prefer good control and ball feedback over power.

Weight

The Percept 97 models are Yonex’s heaviest racket series. The standard Percept 97 model weighs 310 grams which is on the heavier side of competitive tennis rackets. The extra weight improves the racket’s stability, control, and ball feedback but reduces its maneuverability.

Due to the Percept 97 models’ small head size and heavy weight, they are intended for advanced players who are looking for the most control-focused Yonex model.

PERCEPT 97

Percept 97 is the standard Percept model. It has a 97 square inch head size and it weighs 310 grams. Percept 97 has an open 16×19 string pattern which offers players good spin production and arm-friendliness.

Even though the 16×19 string pattern is mostly focused on spin and power production the smaller 97-inch head size improves the racket’s control by reducing its power production making it more precise than other Yonex’s models with a 16×19 string pattern.

Percept 97 could be considered as the all-around Percept model. It has good spin production and control while maintaining decent power production and maneuverability.

Percept 97 is best suited for experienced intermediate players to advanced players who are looking for an all-around Yonex model with improved control and precision.

Price range: $270 / 300€

PERCEPT 97D

Percept 97D is the more control-focused version of the standard Percept 97 model. It shares the same 97 square inch head size as the standard model but it weighs 320 grams compared to the standard model’s 310 grams.

In addition to the extra weight, the Percept 97D has also a more closed string pattern of 18×20. This closed string pattern is able to offer players more control and precision compared to the standard Percept 97 model’s open 16×19 string pattern.

In the closed 18×20 string pattern, the strings have less room to move and stretch which decreases the rackets’ power-producing capabilities but this way increases its control.

Due to the extra weight and closed string pattern, the 97D provides players with more control, precision, and stability than the standard Percept 97 model. However, the 97D is a more challenging racket maneuver because of its heavy weight of 320 grams and therefore it is intended for advanced competitive players.

Percept 97D is best suited for advanced competitive players who are looking for a heavier and control-focused Percept 97 model.

PERCEPT 97H

Percept 97H is the heaviest and most control-focused model in the Percept series. It shares the same 97 square inch head size and open 16×19 string pattern as the other models but it weighs 330 grams which is 20 grams more than the standard model’s 310 grams.

Due to the extra heavy weight, the Percept 97H has the best stability and control in the Percept series. However, it is also the most challenging model because of its weight and therefore it is recommended for advanced players.

The heavy weight of the 97H model makes it hard to maneuver for inexperienced players because its head doesn’t accelerate as well as in the lighter models.

Percept 97H is best suited for advanced competitive players who are looking for the heaviest Percept model with the best in series control and stability.

Percept 97L is the Lightest Percept 97 model. It has the same 97 square inch head size and open 16×19 string pattern but it weighs 290 grams which is 20 grams less than the standard model.

Due to the lightweight of the Percept 97, it is the most maneuverable model in the Percept 97 series. Even though it’s lighter than other Percept models it provides players with good stability and power thanks to its 16×19 string pattern.

Percept 97L is best suited for intermediate players who are looking for a stable and light Percept 97 model with improved maneuverability.

PERCEPT 100

Head size

Yonex Percept also comes with 100 square inch head size models. Due to their larger head size and thicker beam, they are able to offer players more forgiveness and power production than the 97-inch model.

Weight

The standard Percept 100 model weighs 300 grams which is the average weight of a good tennis racket. This weight is well suitable for many types of players because it provides good maneuverability without compromising stability.

PERCEPT 100

Percept 100 is the standard Percept 100 square inch head size model. It weighs 300 grams and it has an open string pattern of 16×19. Due to the larger head size and improved maneuverability, the Percept 100 is able to offer players more spin production than the Percept’s 97 head size model.

Because of the larger 100-inch head size the Percept 100 is not as control-focused and precise as the 97-inch models but it makes up for it with better power and spin production and easier handling.

Percept 100 is best suited for intermediate players who are looking for a more forgiving Percept model with improved power and spin production.
